Came across this story in one of the archaeological feeds I read.
It's the discovery of a couple who died hugging each other 5000yrs ago and their remains have been found, still embracing each other.
Awww, how sweet I thought, shame the article didn't come out on valentines day.

I then had another look at the picture.... and thinking about it, to me, that doesn't look so much as a hug, but rather they've got their hands round each others throats desperately trying to throttle one another.
Mind you, that's still probably just as applicable to valentines day *shrugs*

Now how's this for selfish - the VSO / Red Cross project I was supposed to have been involved with finally wrapped up and my first thought wasn't "oh good, those families can now keep in touch with each other despite being spread out across Africa" but rather "bollocks, I really wanted to help out on that"
Oh well, I'm sure I earned just as many karma points for trying to get involved - it's not my fault I sold out and took a better paying job (AGAIN) is it?

I need to get myself a new favorite flower. On my way home I picked up a couple of bunches of stargazer lilies (are they out of season? they cost a fortune compared to normal) to add a bit of colour in the dining room, but they're a bit... funerally. Not that I'm too bothered - it's not as if anyone will see them other than me but I always get the concerned looks from the florist as if someone's died.
Those orchid type things that grow on tree roots in the rain forest - they're kinda cool and a bit more masculine, but I've a feeling I'd kill them off too easy :( Maybe I should just stick with plastic ones *g*
