Well I've had a fun couple of days. One of the more "entertaining" incidents involved my car.

I took the Mondeo in for its MOT last week. It only needed a little bit of work, so I said to give it a full service including oil and filter change.
With all the snow we had last week, I only had time to pick the car back up, drop it off at my flat and then I headed off down to London.
The first time I got to drive properly was Monday when I set off to work.
I'd gone about 20miles when there was a slight puff of blue smoke from the nearside front wheel and then before the warning lights even had time to come on, the engine seized solid.
If there had been anyone on the inside lanes I'd have been splattered but lucky the lanes were empty and I skittered across - having lost all stearing and brakes - and dumped the car on the hard shoulder.

The AA soon came out to me, and the first thing he checked was the oil levels, and I was informed that the engine was completely dry.
I explained that this couldnt be possible, as I'd only just had the oil changed, infact the receipt was clearly visible on the dash.
He then checked under the car and announced that the sump plug was missing.
When the garage had done the oilchange they'd obviously forgotten to tighten the plug up properly.

well, that'd do it!

The initial response from the garage wasn't positive.

It was suggested to me that I go straight to a solicitor and sue for the damage to the car as well as loss of earnings, emotional distress etc etc.
I don't like doing that as to be honest, I could probably have made it into work and there was no "distress", yes I was lucky to avoid a serious accident but I'm used to those sorts of things now.
Instead, with Neal's help, we towed my car all the way from Warwick to Brum city centre (took 7hrs what with all the messing about) and left it on the forecourt.
This morning I had the boss of the garage on the phone appologising.
He's promised to get it repaired just as soon as he can get a replacement engine.
Mistakes happen, if he's willing to put things right then that's all I'm bothered about.
