I'm going to the Llyn Gwynant Campsite on Friday 11th May coming back late on Sunday 13th
Rob has said he's coming, and hopefully convince Lin & Leo too. ETA: ok as requested I'll postpone so those at Cov can come along. Let me know when you all want to go.
I'll be taking my kayak for a spot of paddling (am trying to relearn how to paddle in a straight line due to my shoulder injury so you'll be treated to lots of views of me capsizing)
When I'm not soaking wet I'll be doing some walking. There are several different paths with everything from gentle walks around the lake taking 45mins (trainer/approach shoes) up to more adventurous routes up Snowdon taking 9hrs (proper hiking and wet weather gear required)
I'm also going to spend a bit of time getting to know the local nature reserve if I can, as I've volunteered to help out with some general dogsbody tasks (weeding / drywall building etc)
Now, this place isn't exactly a holiday camp. No on-site shop (nearest is a couple of miles away) and no cafe. If the weather gets bad then people are going to have to drive to the next village to find entertainment.
The facilities are fairly basic too - just a single shower, although there are proper toilet blocks and you can buy wood from the site owners for a campfire on the evening (we need Mark's fire making abilities *g*)
I've got a spare tent if you're desperate and the site rents kayaks / canoes for the more foolish.
If anyone is interested in joining us then let me know. It's the same distance/travel time for most people as Shell Island is, although this is inland as opposed to the coast (I want to get my seakayak before I go back to SI)
