Had a fun packed few days.

Travelled down with Neal to see his new flat in London, then met up with S&D and Kat to see Matchbox Twenty at Wembley - a most enjoyable time.

Came back late Friday and went to Buonissimo for dinner. It's a lovely little Italian place at the top of Harborne (I wrote a review here as I've started to try and write a more Brum focussed blog)

When I got home I discovered a parcel on the floor - a box of Baileys Brownies that Becky had made for me - now how's that for a welcome home!

Today I went to the Town Hall to see a family flamenco fun day with lots of flamenco jazz music, and dancing in the aisles, and any Spanish / Latin American children got to go up on stage and have fun. Obviously that reminded me of a few people, but anyway I had a great time.

I hate reality TV shows. The more I watch, the less I feel I have in common with "the general public"
One show that has really caught my attention lately it C4's The Shooting Party

This follows the stories of nine directors making short films for Channel 4.
So far, C4 have managed to stay away from the sickly sweet way that many shows have dealt with the topic of disability. Here, the emphasis is on the hard work that goes into making a short film.

Sure, the topic of todays film by Zoe Cartwright was Zoe Cartwright but the behind the scenes show concentrated not on her deafness and tinnitus, but rather on the problems of a making movies - such as a resident being attacked and killed by a rottweiler just days before Zoe was due to film a scene with a rottweiler in the very same town, resulting in last minute changes to scripts, locations and breed of dog.

When her disability was the focus, it made the audience think, not pity.

As to the actual short films, you can check them out here
